What is your dream for that new year? What plan will you put in place to turn your dream into a reality? How can you change your thoughts to turn challenges into opportunities and disappointments into fulfillments? Joseph Campbell, a noted mythologist, said, “Life is a Hero’s Journey”, full of opportunities and challenges, new pursuits and goals. Campbell also said, “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” I was reminded of this quote as I watched my oldest granddaughter, Anna, hurl the shotput for a record throw at the State Track Meet during her Senior year in high school. She was thinking about what she wanted to do when she went to college. She had decided she wanted to go to a smaller school with a great reputation for their pre- med courses and wonderful support for female students. She was thinking and talking about all sorts of possibilities that were open to her for the upcoming 4 years of undergraduate preparation.
